interview

I really enjoyed this interview Alexei is very funny. its was cool to get to here his views of things such as indians and white men. i agree with him that we sould not write about things we know nothing about. so no white men should write about indians enless they know what there life is like. i like that alexei writes from his own experences i think it make his storys more interesting he can give a different point of view. when you write about a life experience you have had it is easer to describe the emotions that went on. rather then just guess how the characters felt.

I have enjoyed all of Alexei's works that we have read he is a great writer. i loved getting to know more about him it makes his story's even better when you know how they came to be. i hope we get to read more of his stuff.

A History of Native Americans in Cinema/ smoke singnals

The article was very long!!! But I did enjoy it I learned a lot about the movie industry. I did not realize what Indians went through in the movie industry I never gave it much thought. So it was cool to get to hear about it.

We are watching smoke signals in class so far I like it. The story makes you feel for the people livening on the reservation. But they point out the bad in comical ways like a car that can only go backwards because they can not pay to get it fixed. The character Thomas in this movie is a lot to handle I don’t think I could go on a trip with him I may kill him. He does not think before he talks. I can't wait to see where the movie takes us.

"This Is What It Means To Say Phoenix, Arizona"

i enjoyed this story, it was cool being able to here about life on the reservation. i really liked how the characters made jokes about each other like how everyone is name jr. this story lets you see how hard life is on the reservation, i mean to not even have enough money to go get your dad and bring him back must be the most frustrating thing.

this was a sad story it makes you feel for the people on the reservation because you get to see how hard they struggle to make ends meet. so when someone dies unexpectedly and you have unexpected coast life gets even harder. this story was about a man whose fathers died so he must make the arrangements. in the story you get to see how this man gets the money he needs and if he gets his father back to the tribe.

this is defiantly a different form of writing compared to Fleur its a different type of story also. i enjoyed Fleur more because the story was so unsuspected it kept me guessing. this story was not as suspenseful it was more of a sad story. i mean it was good i leaned a lot about life on the reservation but, if i had to choice a one that is my favorite then i would choice Fleur.

Fleur

This story starts off a little worried I did not know where it was going but, I ended up loving the story. Fleur is not your typical girl she has been through a lot almost died twice. But she is still strong enough to get away from the men you get mad at her. I love how mysterious she is, but it drives me insane at the same time. The whole time I was reading I wanted to know how is she still alive. At the end I wanted to know who the father of her child was. I was so mad that it ended! I wonder why the author makes her so mysterious.

I enjoyed this story because of all the detail; the author does a great job painting a picture of each character. I also enjoyed the story because it is not like anything I have read. Normally you can predict what may happen I had no clue where this story was going until in ended. But I like that!

online poems

i enjoyed all the poems i read they all tell a story that kept me interested i wanted to know more. i am not a big poetry reader so this is big for me. Wendy rose does and amazing job painting a picture i think that is why i enjoyed her poems so much. also they where story's not just rhyming words that you have to figure out what each sentence means.

Truganinny

I enjoyed this poem allot i think it is so beautifully written. it is a sad poem the fact that she is dieing and has had to go though seeing all of her friends and family die. but I think it is also bitter sweet moment for the older lady she will now be reunited with her friends and family.in the poem she seems to be ready for death, she knows it is coming and is ready.

Note to a culture Vulture

so i read this article like five times i do not really understand what it is about. i think it is about a writer that wanted to learn about Indians so he could right about them but i am not sure. i don't know why but i can not figure this thing out. maybe i will understand after class.

How to write the great american Indian novel

Sherman Alexei wrote this short novel,in this novel he address the different stereotypes that white men and women have of Indians. such as the Indian men being a worrier and Indian women being seen as a healer. these are just some of the stereotypes he addresses.

as i was reading i was wondering where he came up with some of the things he was saying like he said the white women dream of Indian men what makes him think that. everything i have read of watched in this class makes me think opposite. i may not be understanding what he is trying to say i was a little confused about what the point of this novel was i think it is about stereotypes.

crimes against humanity

i never gave much thought to mascots and team names just thought someone picked that name so the school used it. i can see how this may be a dishonor to Indians i mean we treated them so bad for so many years they probably think this is another way we are picking on them. i don't think most people read that much into names like this but some people may. i just think they are names.

cowboy

This story is about a cowboy who just got out of jail. it starts off with the cowboy wondering on someone else land he gets caught by a man who takes him to the head lady. the lady gave him a job on the farm. the cowboy worked with the man on the farm for many years en till the man and women died. this left the cowboy with nothing.

when we first meat the women and the man i thought that they where husband and wife. i thought she was a controlling wife and he was a nerdy husband. i had the wrong picture they turned out to be brother and sister.

also this story was hard to read i had to keep going back to see what i just read. i think it was the way everyone talked.

brokeback mountain

At first when I heard broke back mountain I thought of the movie. I was not a big fan of the movie. the story has the same story line as the movie but there are some differences. this story is not what comes to mind when i think of a western. I feel like the author made them cowboys as a back drop there was no real reason for these men to be cowboys it dose not pertane to the story at all. I don't look at them as real cowboys more like two men that worked on a farm. the story kept me entertained but i would not calssify this story as a western. its a good story just not my favorite thing to read!!!
