"I Hated Tonto (Still Do)," by Sherman Alexie

so this story was different from everything else that we read. the man in this story wants to be a worrier but cant because he can not do thing that worriers do. this story just showed a different point of view of movies about Indians. it was not my favorite thing that we read. but i enjoyed it!

the lone ranger

so first off the acting in the show just makes me laugh. i think that the story line is cool i want to see what happens i can see why people watched the show. the story reminds me of zoro they both where mask and try to save the day. i also like that the Indian and cowboy are working together it shows you a different side of things. it makes you think what if the white man and Indians just worked together? what would life be like today? at least that is what i thought about when i saw the cowboy and Indian start to work together. i look forward to seeing how there relationship grows throw out the show.

Today in class we got into groups to talk about the different dime novels. we got to hear about the ones we did not read. after meating in the groups i found out that most of the dime novels where structered like mine. there was no setting or main characters just a bunch of storys thrown together. some how the story ends up comeing together it just takes awhile. i as glad to hear i was not the only one confused.

the other day we talked about are novels in class, we were talking about what we found weird about them. there are so many things that i find strange in this novel ever time i read i find something else. first of all everyone is way to comfortable with death, it is like a normal thing for someone to just be shot in the middle of the day. no one reacts they just move the body and clean up and move on. i do not under stand it. also the way the talk is really hard to understand it is almost a different language. o and the structure of this novel is so different from the novels i have read. i feel like there are 100 different story's going on haha. but things do come together and then it becomes very interesting . another thing that has bothered me about this novel is the role of women they have no say it seems like. when the man wins Jane in the knife throwing contest he leaves her in town ungraded and tells her he will be back for her. Jane does not leave the town even though the man wants to kill her. why would you stay she should leave so she does not get killed. but it all works out in the end.

this novel is hard to get into but it is worth it the story ends up being a great story once you get past all the confusing.

So I am reading right now and I am so lost!!!!!!!!!!! I just finished chapter 9-11 and I may have to go back maybe I missed something. There are two new characters and I do not know how they are going to fit into the story. After chapter 8 I thought we had all the characters. I hope it all comes together soon because I am getting frustrated. Hopefully my group will be able to help me out. Well I am going to try to reread the chapters to see if I missed something.

Deadwood Dick's Doom; or Calamity Jane's Last Adventure

This story was hard to get into at first because there where so many characters i could not keep track of all of them. when i was reading it felt like there were 3 different stores going on. now that i have gotten though eight chapters i see that all the story's connect in some way. i really started to get into the story after chapter six because calamity Jane came into the picture now. the story has started to unravel now, it has gotten more exiting so i am really looking forward to read the rest. new character relationship are starting to form and i can't wait to see where these relationships go and how they end if they end. this novel is also really interesting because the town is cursed and who ever enters it is cursed. so it is very interesting to see what will happen to the people when they enter the town.

i stopped reading at chapter eight and i can not wait to get back to reading!!! right now calamity Jane is in danger she is being help captive. two men are havening a knife throwing contest to see who gets to kill Jane.

Baum

The Baum is an editorial about a holy man, the Arthur tells you how he feels about this man. the holly man was killed i think that the Arthur wrote this out of respect.

Deloria

This story is basically the story of the Boston tea party, men dressed up like Indians and dumped tea in to the harder. I liked this story because it made me think, there where a lot of great questions in the story. such as " why of all the possible stories of rebellion and re-creation, has the notation of disguised Indians dumping tea in the Boston harbor such a powerful hold on Americans' imaginations?" This question really made me think because i really have no idea why it is so important. I also liked this story because it explained how the white men where thinking when they dumped tea into the sea.

CHARLOT

Charlot is venting about how the white men are trying to make him pay for something he earned and worked for. why did the white men feel that they could take things away from the Indians what gives them the right? why can't they just work together? The Indians where so welcoming to the white man when they came. the Indians gave them food and taught them new skills. I think that the white men took what they could from them and then got greedy, the white men decided to take over. This is where Charlot's anger comes from. I think this article opens peoples eyes up to how the Indians felt when the white man took over there land.

I really enjoyed reading Impressions of an Indian childhood. this story really shows the culture of Indians, you get to see how they all interact with each other. i think you can learn a lot about people by how they interact with others. I did not like the other reading assignment it just felt like facts where being thrown at me. i did not understand everything i was reading because it was boring. I understand things better when they are in a story it just makes more scene to me you know what i mean?
